Transcript:
You could call her a casualty of the health care industry, one local doctor weighs in on what's wrong with health care, and what she thinks of government getting involved. Dr. Jennifer Landa of BodyLogicMD of Orlando, an expert in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), says the health care industry is one of the reasons she's no longer a practicing OBGYN.
"Every doctor you may talk to would tell you that at some point an insurance company has tried to influence decisions they've made for their patients," She said.
Dr. Landa says eventually it stops making sense economically.
"There are doctors today that are struggling just to keep their doors open with the amount that they're reimbursed by the insurance companies," she said.
She's now involved with an alternative medicine practice in Maitland, and says she's curious to see what happens with health care.
"I'm excited that people are talking about it and that there may be change on the horizon. Yet at the same time, I'm apprehensive as to whether the change that we get is going to be the change that we need."
