It doesn’t matter how old you are, exercise is vital to your health and well-being. However, many people are putting it off with distractions such as watching TV, surfing the internet or playing video games. To reach the minimal threshold for good health you only have to burn 700- 1000 calories a week, which is less than a half hour a day of physical activity. Exercising regularly can help you sleep better, reduce stress, control your weight, brighten you mood, improve your sex life and help you avoid serious illnesses like heart disease and certain cancers.
A well-rounded fitness program has four components that each benefit you body in a different way. Adding aerobic exercise to your diet by walking, jogging, swimming and cycling can improve your cardiovascular activity to fight diseases. By doing strength or resistance training like the use of weights can increase to calcium in your bones that weaken with age. With flexibility exercises you can prevent falling an injuring yourself because as we age the muscles in our bodies weaken. Finally, by adding yoga, pilates or tai-chi, improves your balance and enhances your health. By participating in less than 30 minutes a day you are extending your life and developing a better and healthy you.
