Non-Stick Cookware Linked to Thryoid Disorder | March, 2010

According to a British study published in the journal Environmental Heath Perspectives, industrial and consumer-based products such as non-stick cookware, stain-resistant carpet coatings, and waterproofing treatments all contain a harmful chemical known as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which has been linked to a wide range of health complications, such as infertility, elevated cholesterol levels and thyroid disease. According to an article recently published by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, the PFOA chemical - also referred to as C8 - can be found in wide variety of consumer products, ranging from food packaging such as popcorn and fast food wrappers to roast beef, poultry and even drinking water.

It's critical that we make ourselves aware of the environmental toxins we come into contact with on a daily basis, so that we can take the necessary steps towards safe-guarding ourselves and our loved ones.  In most cases, it's simply a matter of changing brands or eliminating overexposure to specific substances and materials; however, sometimes environmental toxins - especially those containing xenoestrogens - can lead to symptoms of hormonal imbalance, such as fatigue, mood swings, low libido, weight gain and inability to build and maintain muscle mass.

BodyLogicMD's bioidentical hormone doctors help women and men overcome hormonal imbalances such as menopause, perimenopause, andropause (the male menopause), adrenal fatigue and thyroid disorders, using a combination of customized nutrition and fitness regimens and bioidentical hormone therapy. Using state-of-the-art testing, BodyLogicMD affiliated physicians can pinpoint the source of hormonal imbalances and treat the patient's symptoms accordingly.
