Whether you want to call it manopause, male menopause or a midlife crisis, andropause is a clear and present condition, faced by millions of American men each year. Andropause is defined as being the period in a man's life when hormone levels, namely testosterone, begin to decline. The decline is much more gradual than what women experience during menopause, but is characterized by many of the same symptoms. Most men experiencing symptoms of andropause chalk up it up to getting older and have no idea that their hormones (or lack thereof) are to blame.
A recent article reported by FOX News discussed how 49-year-old Houston resident, Patrick Stolle was able to regain his edge using HCG injections. HCG or human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone produced during pregnancy. The hormone is unique in the sense that it serves as a precursor to testosterone. Stolle's HCG regimen helped him shed nearly 100 pounds and reported sleeping better through the night and waking up feeling rested and refreshed.
According to the article, before beginning treatment of any kind, it's important to determine the cause of low testosterone, as certain medical conditions unrelated to aging can sometimes cause levels of the hormone to drop off. A simple blood test can determine your testosterone levels and after a thorough evaluation, your doctor is able to decide is hormone therapy regimens, such as HCG, are right for you.
