Cancer Researchers Announce Breakthroughs In Natural Prostate Cancer Prevention and Treatment | January, 2010
At the most recent AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) conference in Houston Texas, cancer researchers, oncologist, and health professionals discussed about the latest advancements in cancer research. Of the advancements conversed, natural therapies has come out to be one of the most hopeful new studies that prevents and treats prostate cancer.
In Germany, scientist have discovered that agents found in beer and herbal medicine called hops, the flowering clusters of the plant, play a role in preventing prostate cancer. The phytochemical found in these clusters, xanthohumol, binds to estrogen receptors and may prevent breast cancer. Similairly, scientist theorized that natural hops compounds could bind to testosterone receptors and repel prostate cancer.
Surprisingly, Coffee is another natural substance that caught the eye of the ACCR at their recent meeting. Harvard scientist found that coffee has effects on insulin, glucose metabolism and sex hormones which all play a role in prostate cancer and that men who drink coffee have a 60% lowered risk of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer.
Furthermore, it has been found that exercise has a favorable impact on hormones put forward to stimulate prostate cancer and that exercise boosts immune function and reduces inflammation. So, 15 minutes of exercise daily can reduce the overall mortality rate in prostate cancer patients.
