On the move
A locally-based physician is aligning himself with a hormone therapy treatment said to help menopausal women combat some of the negative effects of the inevitable condition.
Dr. Gary Gallo, a BodyLogicMD company physician, is working with a network of doctors across the country to treat the symptoms with natural hormones, according to company publicist Lisa Buyer.
Gallo, regarded as an expert in bioidentical hormone therapy, said in a company press release that besides helping menopausal symptoms, balanced hormone levels protect against obesity and disease, including cancer and Alzheimer's.
He said he believes because of today's stressful lifestyle, women tend to lose hormones long before their golden years.
"Perimenopause," he said, "can begin as early as 35." Gallo said patients' hormone levels are evaluated and then balanced accordingly, using therapy integrated with fitness and nutrition.
The company also offers related fitness and nutritional services for men.
