Dr. Jeffrey Thackrey Discusses the Benefits of Going Organic on WSFL-39
Fort Lauderdale Bioidentical Hormones Expert Jeffrey Thackrey, M.D. Featured on South Florida's "The Morning Show"
In addition to Dr. Thackrey's advanced training in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), he is Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, with a subspecialty in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. During the segment, Dr. Thackrey explains the impact that environmental toxins and processed foods have on our hormones and our overall health and discussed some ways that women and men can go green for Earth Day, by eliminating some, if not all of these items from our lives.
Organic farming practices were developed to conserve resources and eliminate the risks associated with processed foods. This means that foods, including meat, dairy, fruits, and vegetables have been cultivated and transported without chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, or other non-natural additives. Organic farmers don't use antibiotics, growth hormones or chemical fertilizers to maintain their crops and livestock. Instead, they use natural alternatives such as manure or compost to fertilize crops and feed their animals only 100% organic certified feed. Many of the synthetic hormones used to expedite the growth and development of livestock contain chemical compounds that can act as hormones in the human body and disrupt many of the body's biological processes, which can put us at risk for many diseases including diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and even cancer.
