Doctor Welcomes Chance to Franchise Anti-Aging Techniques
Oprah has started the conversation on the advances of hormone replacement therapy. As of March 16, 2009 BodyLogicMD has opened their 24th location. Dr Michelle Schultz, who has been an obstetrician and gynecologist for the last 20 years, will head the practice. The focus of the practice is to help men and women that are suffering from symptoms of menopause and andropause (male menopause). This is done by balancing their hormones using bio-identical hormones. This restores health and wellness through the use of pharmaceutical-grade vitamins and supplements and a customized exercise.
Schultz said she has been working in what she calls "functional medicine" for a number of years and believes it represents an example of how medicine, as well as so many other facets in society, is on the cusp of change.
Schultz said the profile of many of her patients who might need hormone therapy follows a predictable pattern. Women, she said, complain of being exhausted and not having the energy to do a lot anymore. Regular doctors, she said, often treat patients like this for depression, whereas the BodyLogic approach is to ask: what is lacking?
"We even have people who eat 'properly' and still aren't getting the nutrition they need," she said.
Those seeking Shultz's services should not abandon their regular family physician, she said. BodyLogic services begin more on a consultant basis, followed by further evaluation and assessment.
