Anchor / Dr. Stanton

Welcome back. Well have you ever heard of “The Oprah Effect?” We all know that everything she touches turns to gold, from her favorite things at Christmas to her book club. And this can mean big business for small companies and it affected one such company right here in Connecticut. Joining us today is Dr. Stanton from BodyLogicMD. Welcome Dr. Stanton, thank you for coming on the show. First tell us about BodyLogic and your company and what it does.

Ok. BodyLogicMD is a national organization of anti-aging physicians and we focus on bioidentical hormone therapy and nutrition. I have my own practice here in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Ok, for viewers who don’t know, what is bioidentical hormone therapy?

Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are exactly the same shape and structure as the hormones your body would make, so they act in your body the same way as your body’s natural hormones would.

So is this for women and men or mainly focused towards women?

No definitely women and men, and I have many more men come into my practices, about 35 to 45% men now.

So what’s the process when someone comes to your practice? What should they expect?

They should expect to get a lot of testing done to see where their hormone levels are and their total health is. They should expect an hour long visit with a physician and their staff to make sure we understand what’s going on and then we can form a plan for them.

Ok, how did this all come up on Oprah?

Oprah was not feeling well so she contacted some physicians and started on hormone therapy and talked about it on her program, and it has increased awareness and acceptance so more people are willing to look at it.

Now I watched this special on “The Oprah Effect” and almost every business said the first thing they noticed was the website exploding. Is that something you noticed? What happened to your business after it was on Oprah?

The national business completely exploded. We actually had a six day notice that she was going to be talking about it so we geared our websites up but we still had to reinforce them and our web traffic has increased by over 400%.

Now Oprah is endorsing this. I also know Suzanne Somers is an advocate of it as well. Why do you think so many people love it?

I think it’s the right way to go. I think it’s not just about the hormones, it’s about the nutrition, the fitness, and diet and I just believe it’s the way people are going.

Now people are interested in contacting you, getting this done, where should they go? What should they do?

What I would do is contact BodyLogicMD their website and look at where the physician in your area is and follow up with them.

Ok, Dr. Stanton, thank you very much.
