July 2008 | KUSI San Diego
Adrenal fatigue is a conditioned caused by the overworking of the adrenal glands. When feeling stressed, cortisol is triggered and put into the blood by the adrenal glands. Symptoms of adrenal fatigue include acne, depression, insomnia, and weight gain. To be tested for this condition, saliva tests are given throughout the day in order to measure the levels of cortisol in the body. If there is excess amount of cortisol in the body, treatment can be given, which includes reducing stress, improving diet and nutrition, and utilizing hormone therapy. By making these changes and receiving treatment, the effects of adrenal fatigue can be reduced within weeks of diagnosis.
